Ben and The 401 Challenge Team

  • What is a 401 Festival of Running Virtual Event and why would I want to do it?

A 401 Festival of Running virtual event allows you the chance to earn the same medal as those that take part in any of our live Festival of Running events.

Maybe you couldn’t get to our event because it was too far away, you were at work or it was just too expensive to get to us. Maybe you aren’t quite there with your confidence, you might not do might not like big crowds or busy events, or simply you just want to do it at your own pace in your own way, in a setting that’s familiar to you.

Whatever your reason a 401 Festival of Running virtual event means you can still take part and earn the same bling as those that took part in the LIVE event.

  • Are all distances available as part of a 401 festival of Running Virtual Event?

We want to keep a level of difference between our live and virtual events, so not all distances that are available in the live events are available in the virtual events.

Only 5km, 10km, and Half Marathon distances are available for our current virtual events, however, for past virtual events, we offer challenges and additional medal options dependent on stock left over.

  • How do I sign up?

Follow these simple steps and you shouldn’t go wrong:

    1. Click on the medal you want to purchase, choose the quantity and click ‘Add to Basket‘.
    2. If you want to purchase another medal click ‘Continue Shopping’, this will then take you back to the product you have just put in your basket. Simply follow the process until you have picked all the medals you want.
    3. Once you have completed your basket, click ‘Proceed to Checkout
    4. If you have already registered for a ‘My 401 Account‘ please log in if you aren’t already. If you haven’t you will be asked to create one now. This is so we have all the relevant information on you to support your order. We cannot process any orders without a ‘My 401 Account‘.
    5. Please fill in your details or check the details we have for you are correct.
    6. Please enter in your card details
    7. Tick to say you have read and understood the T&Cs
    8. Then click ‘Place Order’

You will get an initial confirmation email from our website summarising your order, then when our team gets into the office you will receive a more personalised message from us with any instructions you need to follow.

At all time we are here to help, simply fill in the form below and tick ‘Ask a question’ or email us directly at support@the401challenge.co.uk.

  • What do you mean the you say 'Send us your evidence'?

In order for us to verify you have done the distance to earn your medal, we need to see some type of proof, the great thing is we are flexible on the type of evidence we need to see, these include:

    • A photo of your watch face after your run/walk
    • A screen grab of your fitness tracker or Strava feed
    • A picture of the treadmill showing distance covered

Once you have any of the above, simply fill in our easy to use Online Form, making sure you quote your full name, email, order confirmation number and virtual event you are submitting evidence for. You will be able to upload up to 5 pieces of evidence if you have broken the distance down or have multiple event distances within your challenge. Please note, you can only submit one virtual event at a time:

For instance, if you have bought a virtual 5km and virtual 10km, you would need to submit these separately. if you have purchased a challenge, then you will need to submit all your distances together.

Again, any questions just email us at support@the401challenge.co.uk and one of our team will be happy to help out.

Once we have this, sit back and wait for your medal, you totally deserve it!

  • How long does it take to get my medal?

Once you have submitted your evidence via our online form, our team at HQ will check it and send you a confirmation email to say whether it has been accepted or rejected.

If accepted, we will aim to post your medal out within 24 hours of you receiving your confirmation email. We will send you medal/s via second class post, so be mindful this could take up to 4-5 working days dependent on the time of year.

For anyone entering our races that live abroad, postage time will significantly increase so please be patient.

  • What happens if my evidence is rejected?

If your evidence is rejected, then you will need to submit new evidence based on the criteria mentioned in our ‘What do you mean by sending you evidence?‘ question.

Please be aware we can’t accept any evidence via social media pages, text message, Facetime, letter or carrier pigeon – just via our online form.

If you have any issues submitting your evidence or aren’t sure if it’s the right evidence then please just email us at support@the401challenge.co.uk and one of our team will be happy to help you out.

  • I've forgotten what races I have entered!

Don’t worry, when you purchase your virtual entry, you will be prompted to set up a ‘My 401 Account‘ unless you already have one.

Either way, once you have registered or logged into your ‘My 401 Account;’ which can be accessed by going to www.the401challenge.co.uk and clicking in the top right-hand corner of the page, there is a section called ‘Orders‘, click it and you will see all your lovely 401 orders so you can see what events you have entered.

  • Do I have to run or can I walk?

You can run or walk, or do a mix of both. as long as you complete the distance and have fun doing it, that’s all that matters to us.

We recommend a tea and cake stop, its the 401 way!

  • Do I need to complete the whole distance in once go?

    No, not at all.

Our virtual events are inclusive for whatever stage you are at. As long as you can supply us with evidence that you have completed the overall distance and again maybe a picture to show how much fun you had, then we are more than happy with that.

We have given you an opportunity to load 5 different bits of evidence, so if you have broken it down into 5 different distances that all equal out to the overall distance then load them and we will take a look. if you need more, please email us directly at support@the401challenge.co.uk as one of our team will have to deal with this scenario personally.

  • Are you going to improve the way you accept evidence?

Yes, we are currently developing a piece of software that will make supplying your evidence so much quicker and easier, but for the time being it’s got to be this way.

Please be aware we can’t accept any evidence via social media, text message, Facetime, letter or carrier pigeon – just via our online form

We will be in touch when we have improved the service, however, your feedback is always appreciated!

Fill in our form below and one of our team will be in touch shortly.
